Madonna postpones tour after suffering ‘serious’ bacterial infection

Madonna's upcoming Celebration Tour has been postponed after the singer was hospitalized with a "severe bacterial infection," according to an Instagram post by Madonna's longtime manager Guy Oseary.

The tour was due to begin in Vancouver on 15 July.

He wrote, "On Saturday, June 24, Madonna contracted a severe bacterial infection that required her to stay in the ICU for several days."

“His health is improving, although he is still under medical care. Full recovery is expected.

“At this time we have to put all commitments on hold, including touring.

"We will share with you as soon as we have more details, including new start dates and rescheduled shows for the tour."

The BBC reported on Thursday that Madonna is back home and "feeling better."

The 35-city global tour was supposed to be an ambitious retrospective for the 64-year-old singer, according to an announcement.

The tour was scheduled to stop in US cities such as Detroit, Chicago, New York and Los Angeles before an 11-day European leg.
