The opening scenes of the film, which will premiere in London on Monday, were shot in 2021 at Bamberg Castle.

Star Harrison Ford, 80, was also spotted in Newcastle, where a production crew stayed for two weeks.

Location director Duncan Broadfoot said, "When we brought our director on board he knew immediately that Bamberg was the right choice."

The venue was one of several locations that doubled for 1944 war-torn Nazi Germany.

Other scenes were shot on the North York Moors Railway line at Grosmont and the Leaderfoot Viaduct over the River Tweed near Melrose in the Scottish Borders.

Mr Broadfoot said his team scoured the country in search of palaces.

"We narrowed it down to a few options and when we brought in our director he knew straight away that Bamberg was the right choice," he told BBC Radio Newcastle's Breakfast with Matt Bailey.

"We stayed there for two weeks decorating the palace and when we came to watch the film it looked really fabulous."
